Which discipline does your project call on?

01

Information systems leadership

Recruit a CIO to lead information systems priorities, organise the function and manage relationships with business teams. The brief specifies the application portfolio, services operated and related investment decisions.

The profiles you might meet

  • Chief information officer
  • Group CIO
  • Division CIO

Deliverables to scope together

  • Information systems scope, reporting teams and services
  • Criteria for assessing information systems decisions
  • Initial priorities with business leaders
02

Technology and data leadership

A CTO search focuses on technology strategy, software development and engineering teams; a Data and AI director search focuses on data use, governance and the teams delivering it. Architecture, platform and product responsibilities depend on the organisation: the title alone does not define them.

The profiles you might meet

  • Chief Technology Officer
  • Software engineering director
  • Data and AI director

Deliverables to scope together

  • Technology scope and boundaries of responsibility
  • Experience assessment covering teams, platforms and architecture decisions
  • Map of product, data and business relationships
03

Industrial and operations leadership

Find a permanent executive to lead sites, flows or all operations. Processes, the industrial network, investments and the supply chain's role determine the experience and level of responsibility required.

The profiles you might meet

  • Industrial director
  • Operations director
  • Supply chain director

Deliverables to scope together

  • Scope of sites and functions under responsibility
  • Industrial and management experience criteria
  • Representative decisions to explore during recruitment

At which stage of your project do we step in?

  1. Before the project

The role is being set: we separate what will actually be led.

  2. During the project

Search running: we approach leaders directly and hold the meetings.

  3. After the project

Candidate chosen: we share the feedback and prepare their arrival.

Before we talk

Start with systems, sites and people

Describe the platforms or sites, teams, budgets and projects already under way. We identify useful experience, then prepare the introductions.

  1. Does the role cover the company's information systems, a software or data organisation, or industrial operations?
  2. Which teams, budgets, sites and platforms will report to the executive, and which investment decisions will they own?
  3. Which relationships with business teams, product, supply chain and general management must be established from the start?

Do you practise one of these roles?

  • Chief information officer
  • Chief Technology Officer
  • Operations director
  • Industrial director
  • Data and AI director

We look for these profiles for our clients on a regular basis. Tell us about your achievements and the projects you have led: a talent agent calls you back to understand what you are looking for.

Frequently asked

Technology & industrial leadership: your questions

Are a CIO and a CTO interchangeable?

Titles vary between companies. Specify the internal information systems, software products, engineering and architecture decisions assigned to each function. Their boundaries must be clear when both roles exist.

Are you recruiting a provider to deliver the technical project?

This page concerns the search for a permanent executive. Technical delivery or a defined project management need should be directed to the relevant expertise and type of engagement. Leadership for a fixed period falls within interim CIO cover.

How should we define a Data and AI leadership role?

Describe use cases, data governance, teams, platforms and delegated decisions. Also specify relationships with the CIO's function, business teams and product so that responsibilities are explicit.

What should an industrial leadership brief include?

Specify sites, processes, operations in scope, supply chain, investments and the leadership team. On-site presence and autonomy from the group complete the role definition.

How can we assess a leader on technical ground we do not master?

Describe the decisions to be made rather than the technologies involved. We prepare the assessment with your technical contacts, and an outside opinion can complete the interview on architecture.
