Frequently asked
Interim industrial & operations leadership: your questions
Can an assignment cover several sites?
Yes, if the sites, their managers and cross-site decisions are defined. The allocation of on-site time and working relationships with local management must support the work expected.
Does capacity expansion always require a director?
It may require operational leadership when decisions involve several teams and resources. A need limited to a study or piece of equipment may call for specific technical expertise. Interim technical leadership covers that type of need.
Which constraints should we share in the brief?
Specify processes, safety, quality, capacity, maintenance, supplies and working hours. Include delivery commitments and decisions retained by the group.
How should we prepare for the end of the assignment?
The handover pack should identify actions under way, their owners, investment decisions and unresolved constraints. Teams need to know who will take over decisions and operational monitoring.
Is operations leadership limited to manufacturing?
No. The assignment can cover a branch network, logistics platform or services business. Operating decisions and required experience are then defined for that model, rather than treated as equivalent to running a manufacturing site.
